The pictures speak for themselves. The ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel is...well, lets just say its very messed up. I was in Jerusalem for a long weekend just over a week ago, I loved it there but they seemed to hide the messed up situation of the country quite well. These photos are by my friend Kendal Donahue from Winnipeg, she managed to travel around the Middle-East quite a bit more than I did and got these great photos.
I am sure many of you will have seen Banksy's work on the Western Wall, but so many of these are by the people truly suffering, which I find so much more moving.
The West Bank
Aberdeen Junk
A shadow in the Montreal post, these are just some little things I have spotted around Aberdeen. The last 3 were unsurprisingly found in toilets, whoever drew the face must have had a lot of free time to spend it in a cubicle drawing. Someone needs a girlfriend....

Montreal Streetart
I was recently in Montreal (well, ok August last year) with my mate Greg from Boston, (ok, well, somewhere in MA, close enough - christ sake). Anyway, the place is covered in some pretty spectacular street art. The crap I am used to with your typical "mikey wiz ere 2008" nonsense is totally overshadowed by these brilliant works. Some of them were in really odd places.
You can tell that it began as an underground thing but it was embraced and store and home owners began seeking it out. Its a really chilled out bohemian city, quite expensive but definitely worth it. So enjoy the photos!
Oh, the first 2 photos are from Boston but I couldn't be bothered making another post for them.
I also know they aren't aligned, I also know that I don't care.

Blinkenlights - Amazing Use Of Projection And Skyscrapers
This is a small, low quality video but it shows the amazing abilities of some modern street artists out there. They have hooked up a projector to a system that co-ordinates all the windows of the building and creates makeshift pixels through them.
I have seen some outstanding uses of projectors recently and will post more. The special thing about this one is how they allow anyone to put in their own graphics and even play games like tetris through them.

Wildlife On The Streets
This is another great use of projection and street art combined. A tiger runs along the walls in relation to the speed of the car with the projector. I can imagine some clever uses of this could come up. It would be sort of cool if in the future gangs would start blasting out their tags and stuff all over the communities of rivals, where no-one could do anything to block it out. This project was carried out by Karolina Sobecka, taken from the site:
At night projections from moving cars are shone on the buildings downtown. Each car projects a video of a wild animal. The animal’s movements are programmed to correspond to the speed of the car: as the car moves, the animal runs along it speeding up and slowing down with the car, as the car stops, the animal stops also. The framerate of the movie corresponds to the speed of the wheel rotation, picked up by a sensor. If the presence of a moving object (such as another car or pedestrian) is detected with proximity sensors, its animal "avatar" appears in the projection.
For the ZeroOne ISEA2006 I will be using one vehicle with a projection of a tiger (additional animals will appear in the projection as reflections of passing vehicles and pedestrians).
Projection disappears and flickers as it is supported by the architecture. The city itself is an active partner in creating this alter ego.
We are elevated from the everyday reality through this element of fantasy into a world with more dimensions, possibilities and perhaps beauty.

This is what life is all about

I don't really know why this happened, but it did. And I am thankful for it. This is the sort of thing that makes me hate living in a small (250,000), grey industrial city. People dont have the humour or esteem to do this sort of thing here. I could go out like this on my own I guess, might be a new method to get dates...
This is on the list of events to go to along with a whole bunch in Spain (running of the bulls, tomato festival), Mardi Gras, oh and The Burning Man festival which is number one on the list.
